YouTuber Jason ‘Dunkey’ Gastrow has announced his own indie game publishing house, Bigmode.
In a five-minute upload to his YouTube channel, Gastrow explained how he felt he’d been sitting on the sidelines for too long, waiting for “great games to come out,” and now wanted to make a mark on the industry through his own understanding. of the medium. Here’s some of what he had to say:
“I’ve been on YouTube for 11 years now and one of the core themes of my channel has always been to toss soulless cash-strappers in the trash and lift and praise the truly inspired artworks in this medium.”
“…For years and years and years I’ve always searched for the very best indie games out there and tried to do them justice by turning millions of eyes to the games that really deserve attention…my best of the year videos are going to be constantly loaded with recommendations for indie games like Hades…”
…”I want all real gamers watching this video to know that I would never jeopardize my legitimacy by trying to push some junkass games that I don’t believe in”
Gastrow further explained how his team went to great lengths to make contracts at Bigmode as “developer friendly” as possible, which would allow game developers to succeed and “continue to succeed” in the future. Bigmode is already calling on people to sign up with the company:
“At Bigmode we only want to work with the most passionate and creative people out there, I’m sick of all those weak games, I’m sick of all the spam, I only want to work with the ones that go ham. We’re not going for the bronze medals, we’re going for gold”
