Modern Warfare 2 beta players beg developers to change “clunky” UI

Modern Warfare 2 beta players are seemingly dissatisfied with the game’s UI, describing it as “disgusting” and “clunky”, calling for change.

The Modern Warfare 2 beta is now open to players on all platforms, giving Call of Duty fans the chance to witness the next installment of the illustrious FPS franchise.

Infinity Ward has responded to feedback from the beta’s first weekend, but now that the second weekend has opened the gates to players on both PC and Xbox, meaning even more opinions and feedback will be coming to the developers.

While the weapons, Perks, Killstreaks, and maps typically get the most attention from fans, some players are extremely dissatisfied with the game’s user interface.

Reddit user FlowKom posted in the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit with the title “Who designed this user interface?”

In the post, the user expresses their feelings for Modern Warfare 2’s new UI, which adopts a more horizontal format rather than the classic vertical style CoD fans are used to.

The OP says, “Seriously.. I can’t imagine how this UI got through QA as it is… it’s just clunky, unintuitive and downright WORSE.” The player is not a fan of the “dumb boxes at the bottom of the screen”, which claim they are not “user-friendly”.

They even compare the new UI to a “mobile game” and hope the developers “revert all changes related to these gray boxes to vertical lists.”

Obviously they are not alone in feeling this way as the post has over 1.4k upvotes at the time of writing.

Furthermore, comments below the post express similar sentiments about Modern Warfare 2’s UI, with one user saying “The whole UI is disgusting”, and another also saying “this UI is horrible!! like straight out of a mobile game.. what a downgrade from MW19.”

We’ll have to see how Infinity Ward responds to this feedback, but they’ve been pretty strict when it comes to sticking to their decisions.
