Do you remember those girls in school who swore their eyes changed with the moon? Well, Xbox has taken that to the new extreme with their new Lunar Shift Special Edition controller. And yes, it changes color.
I don’t know about you, but I really love moon shit and I’m really happy to see Xbox pick up their crystals and enter their hot astrological girl age.
Anyway, back to the controller.
According to Xbox’s release, the Lunar Shift Special Edition wireless controller has a color-changing case. It goes from silver to gold shimmer when light falls on it. That’s like, wow, science.
Can you guess what the controller is inspired by? I’ll guess you one time. Yes, it’s the moon. Wow, so proud of you.
The controller also has rubberized gray and black swirl grips. Xbox’s new Share button is also on the Lunar Shift controller that allows players to snap and capture content, making gameplay sharing a whole lot easier.

Xbox has really done the most with their controller designs lately. A few weeks ago their camo controller was leaked and now we have this intergalactic sensation.
I’m not going to lie, the Xbox moon controller is understated stunning. I’m obsessed with it, but maybe it’s because I like shiny things, which look a lot like a crow. It will be cool to see if they continue the color shifting controllers with other colors.
The next thing I want is a controller that reveals something as soon as it gets warm. Kind of like those mugs that go from black to an image when you pour hot water into them. I’m not quite sure how that would work in controller form, but that’s up to Xbox scientists to figure out and for me to eventually write about it.
The Xbox Lunar Shift Special Edition controller is currently available for pre-order through Microsoft for $AU99.95. The official release date is October 25, 2022 at 9:00 AM.
