Pixel Watch bands are already sold out and delayed

The Pixel Watch uses its own system for its bands, for which you have to buy bands from Google or its partners for the time being. But on launch day, many Pixel Watch bands are severely delayed or out of stock.

Google launched the Pixel Watch with about 20 different band designs, including everything from “active” silicone to some nicer leather designs. Google will also launch some metal bands at a later date, at a hefty price.

But if you’re waiting for your Pixel Watch to arrive to pick up extra bands, you might be waiting a while.

The Google Store seems out of stock or delayed on several tire designs. Existing orders also seem to be delayed. We ordered a Pixel Watch with a stretch band and a woven band, and Google marked the order as “delayed” with a late October estimate solely because of the stretch band. The watch and woven strap arrived today.

Update 10/16: After showing heavy delays and out-of-stock notifications for several band options, Google has restocked nearly every Pixel Watch band in its store.

From leather to stretch, we currently see all tires in stock and ship within a week. Your region may vary in timing. The only strap that we don’t see in stock at the moment is the linen two-tone leather strap.

If you’re hoping to pick up a new band, act fast!

This is the situation in the Google Store based on our location in North Carolina on October 13. Based on past years, these timelines may vary based on your location, especially if you’re in a different country.

Meanwhile, Best Buy also sells select Pixel Watch bands with faster turnaround times. However, the retailer does not have the same selection as Google. Only the “Active” and “Woven” tires are available through the store, but they ship much faster for the most part. All versions are currently available for in-store delivery or pick-up from October 17 or 18, but we suspect this will change soon.

9to5Google’s Take

The inventory issues Google is already facing just a week after pre-orders open shows that the proprietary route will only cause a headache for Pixel Watch buyers. It’s honestly a little shocking that Google hasn’t teamed up with one of its partners, many of which create Apple Watch bands, to offer third-party options.
