Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, a first-person shooter not to be confused with 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or its 2020 respray, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, will not be officially released until October 28 from. But you can play the campaign early – as long as you pray at the sacred altar of pre-orders.
Publisher Activision is a bit in tears urging players to pre-order the 47th entry – if we’re technical – in its long-running line of military shooters. Earlier this month, the publisher announced a range of multiplayer cosmetics that will be available to those who complete the campaign. (See the full list here.) According to an FAQ on the game’s official website, access to the campaign itself will be available later this week.
When will you be able to play the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign early?
You can pre-load the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign on October 19. (It will be 72 GB on PC at launch.) You can start playing on October 20. Dates for preloading the full game, including the multiplayer component, are partitioned by platform:
Xbox: October 19, 1:00 PM EDT PlayStation: October 20, 7:00 AM EDT PC: October 26, 1:00 PM EDT
There are a number of other important dates in the release window. be aware of. The multiplayer preseason will run from October 28 to November 15, allowing you to rank up and unlock gear. The game’s official multiplayer season kicks off on November 16, along with the ballyhooed rollout of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 – the next version of the hugely popular Call of Duty Battle Royale. Then, on December 14, the game’s cooperative Special Ops mode will see the introduction of raid-style missions.
